This past weekend, I had the opportunity to attend EDC (for those not familiar with the name; Electric Daisy Carnival). This is a huge electronic music festival that began in Southern California back in ‘97, and has recently relocated to Vegas in 2011. Because it has erupted into one of the most sought after music festivals in the world, the fest has even added “ON THE ROAD” events in other big cities. This year, it finally graced New Yorkers and Dirty Jerzers with its presence at the Metlife Stadium in NJ with EDC NYC. With four stages, three throughout the parking lots, and one on the actual stadium field, home to the New York Jets and New York Giants, the turnout included a 100,000+ mix of drunk high schoolers sporting “I HEART MOLLY” t-shirts, jersey/LI fist-pumpers, and lolli-pop sucking, beer-guzzling young professionals from the Tri-State area. Everyone just mingling together to celebrate beats and grooves.
The top DJ’s throughout the world flew out to spin their hottest beats, and included Avicii, Sebastian Ingrosso, Calvin Harris, Afrojack, Alesso, Armin van Buuren and Steve Angello. But, DON’T FORGET THE LITTLE GUY. By little guy, I mean the up-and-coming relatively unknown DJ’s. That is where Erick Morillo comes in. As a receiver of the weekly Pacha (a NYC dance club, home to house music) emails, I had definitely seen his name glued to a newsletter before. My friend and I had just stumbled upon his set after purchasing my third footlong hot dog of the day. Yes, it was a footlong. Yes, I purchased three. Anyway, he had a sick set, spinning unique beats coupled with remixes to top hits, such as Rihanna + Calvin Harris’ ‘We Found Love’. Below is a video clip of a portion of the ‘We Found Love’ part of his set. Definitely recommend checking him out!!!

When me and my brother were younger, we were positive that the worst thing that could ever happen to us, was Hamburger Helper night. When we heard my mom yell to us that dinner was ready (actually, let’s be honest-she only yelled to my brother that dinner was ready… I was obviously already at…
‘Barbara Streisand’ by Duck Sauce is taking the world on by storm! The song has been a hit in Europe, and I’m hoping it soon sees success in America. Upon hearing it for the first time, I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. However, the more I listened to it, the more Iliked LOVED it! Listen to the song above.
A few weeks ago, GIRL TALK released its new album, ‘All Day’. With ‘Feed the Animals’ being such a success, people didn’t know what to expect from ‘All Day’. I must say though, I think I may actually enjoy the new album more than the previous one!
So sorry jAwesome jUice readers. My disappearance in the blogosphere has been due to one thing— a job. I will truly try my hardest to blog as much as humanly possible from here on out. (Although, unfortunately, it won’t be nearly as much as when I was jobless this summer). But anyway, I’m back!
